Job Title: Assistant Manager – Procurement

Location: Dubai, UAE

Salary: 10,000 to 11,000 AED

Job Description:

Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Managing daily purchasing activities of RM and issuing purchase orders in a timely manner.
  • Negotiating prices for all raw materials with the help of an immediate manager.
  • Coordinating with the inventory control team to determine and manage inventory needs.
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Arranging quotes from local and international suppliers as per Sales requests for spot orders and tender inquiries.
  • Arranging samples and technical details from suppliers for tenders.
  • Negotiating with local and international suppliers; preparing price comparisons and conducting quotation analysis.
  • Processing purchase requisitions/orders within purchasing authority.
  • Following up for shipment execution.
  • Contacting and following up with suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
  • Arranging safety, packaging, Lab equipment, maintenance items, etc. for RAK, Jebel Ali, Iraq & Egypt.
  • Managing purchasing information and reviewing purchase requirements with the management team.
  • Meeting with suppliers for better pricing, payment terms, delivery, etc.
  • Managing and developing the existing and potential supplier pool and updating the Approved Vendor List, may also include vendor’s site inspection to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Negotiating and setting up frame contracts as per requirements.
  • Liaison with sales and logistics departments to forecast and plan to meet purchase deadlines, to bundle demands for necessary.
  • Assessing and anticipating HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) risk associated with the business and reporting to the concerned department accordingly.
  • Observing and adhering to HSE policies, procedures, and safe working practices and reporting obvious hazards immediately to the proper personnel.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
  • Strong planning, forecasting, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of PC applications, mainly Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent.
  • Qualification in Supply Chain Management is a plus.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of working experience in the same capacity or as a procurement officer, preferably in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Experience in sourcing chemicals, with a background in chemicals such as barite, bentonite, lubricants, and mud chemicals being preferable.
